Cosmetic Plastic Surgery In New York City:
Inverted Nipple Correction
This can be with freezing or with a light sedation. It is not uncommon for this to be performed in conjunction with other breast surgery such as a breast lift or breast augmentation. The procedure involves an incision on the medial aspect of the base of the nipple and the release of the retaining ligaments and shortened ducts. A couple of sutures are placed to hold the nipple in the erect position while it heals. The sutures are self-dissolving. There may be some mild discomfort- treated with a light narcotic or just ibuprofen.
There is a small chance of the nipple inversion recurring- requiring another surgery or the addition of filler/micro fat grafting to help maintain the shape/erect position.
There is a low risk of change in sensation to the nipple. You may or may not be able to breast feed following this procedure.
There is a small risk of infection, suture reaction, and a small scar.
You can resume your normal activities immediately after the procedure. |
